Dieter Rams - 10 Principles of Good Design

Usually saying a certain design is "good" is a matter of one's opinion. Dieter Rams, however, pretty much gets it right for everyone in his "Ten Commandments" for good design. Design does need to be innovative, useful, understandable, unobtrusive, honest, long-lasting, thorough, environmentally friendly, needs to have aesthetic, and has as little design put into it as possible. Although some people prefer big, loud, designs over simple ones, everyone wants the design of a product to be useful and unique. Designs that are new and up-to-date are interesting and fun. Designs that reflect exactly what the product is made to do make life easier. Sometimes the way a product is designed is overlooked and taken for granted by the customer. Dieter Rams' 10 Principles of Good Design have pointed out to me why design is so important, and it has also made me realize how much thought and work is put into designing.
